Peter Macdonald Smith has been painting on the beautiful Isles Of Scilly since 1965.
After studying for a Fine Art Degree at Falmouth School of Art, he became involved with the Newlyn and St. Ives artists whilst continuing to show in mixed exhibitions around the UK.He returned to the Islands in 1987 to develop his Studio at Porthloo on St. Mary's where both figurative and abstract works are currently displayed.
Peter Smith has always enjoyed success working directly with the landscape, producing small impressionist works on panel and realistic depictions of crystal clear seas and white sandy beaches on canvas. He paints out of doors with brush or palette knife on beaches, in fields, upon cliffs, or from his dinghy amongst the shallow waters of Scilly./p>The Isles are dominated by the weather, bringing with it changes in light and colour of the sea, land and sky. Peter is renowned for creating warn evocative images that remarkably capture the presence and moods so characteristic of the Islands.
Having exhibited at numerous venues over the last 25 years, his work is on display in various galleries in the South West and is exclusive in London to Webbs Road Fine Art.
