Richard Pearce

A fifth generation islander, Richard Pearce was born on St Mary's, Isles of Scilly in 1953. He was raised and educated there. Subsequently he travelled widely through Britain and Europe before returning to island life.

An injury forced Richard to give up farm and building work in the early 90's. As an alternative, he returned to the artistic skills he had developed in his school days. And although he had exhibited his art during his travels around Europe, his first solo show was in the Community Hall on Bryher and probably the most significant.

Initially Pearce worked and sold from a studio at his Bryher home. He then built a studio on the ruins of a nearby Gig shed and named it The Golden Eagle Studio.

With stunning views of Bryher's Great Porth , the Western Rocks and the Atlantic Ocean, the studio became a perfect workplace and a shocase for the artist's work.
