Steve Slimm was born in the Midlands in 1953 and upon moving to Cornwall in 1970,painting beacme his major interest.He has built a reputation especially for his evocative atmospheric landscapes, always with a touch of mystery. He credits the Cornish landscape " with it's ever changing mood and light " as his main source of inspiration and he has enjoyed numerous mixed and solo shows. His main focus has always been the land, and the deep sense of mystery surrounding the ancient timeless tracts of the land and its coastal extremities. From his early training with John Miller during the 70's through his almost obsessional explorations into the works of Turner, Monet and finally Van Gogh, Steve has moved further and further away from the literal, towards the abstracted interpretation of the essense of what he sees. In more recent years he has also developed and increasing love of colour, and uses it with an ever intensifying passion.
